Free Smoking Patches
Most people who are successful at giving up smoking do it cold turkey, that is, they stop smoking cigarettes
completely from one day to the next, but many of these people use aids for stopping smoking such as nicotine gum,
sprays and smoking patches. Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to get free smoking patches though? And there
might be too, so in the rest of this article we will look at ways of getting free smoking patches.
Free Smoking Patches
Free smoking patches usually use nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) to double your chances of success of
stopping smoking. Most people can use patches, but some people are allergic to them. If you get a skin reaction to
wearing a bandage or a sticking plaster, you may be allergic to NRT patches to stop smoking too.
The nicotine replacement therapy stop smoking patches work by leaching nicotine into your body through your skin
to reduce the side effects of nicotine withdrawal which is the result of your smoking cessation program. Sometimes
the patches are nicotine-free and contain herbs instead.
The first place you might see free smoking patches is in the pharmacy. You may find manufacturers offering a
trial supply or a week's supply if you buy one of their other smoking cessation products such as nicotine gum.
The next place to look is in your doctor's surgery or in the local community centre. Some cities, some states
and some countries have public health campaigns to quit smoking tobacco, which may include free smoking patches
among other anti-smoking aids.
New York is an example of a city with such a public health program. Not only do they advise you on quitting
smoking effectively, but they will send you a smokers' kit, which includes free nicotine patches among other
things, to help people give up.
The United Kingdom also has a public health program to help all the smokers in the UK kick their addiction
smoking. This public health scheme is administered by the National Health Service (NHS) and is open to everyone.
The NHS Stop Smoking Quit Kit however contains only one week's supply of nicotine patches and a voucher for a
discount, in case the smoker needs any more.
These are examples of excellent government initiatives to encourage people to kick the habit of smoking.
However, if your local authority or national government is not running such a scheme, you could still be in with a
chance of getting free smoking patches.
You could contact your health insurance company to see if they are offering incentives or free smoking patches.
Most health insurance companies want to see their members stop smoking so that they can avoid the horrendous costs
of treating clients with smoking related diseases like lung cancer and coronary heart disease.
If this does not provide you with free smoking patches, you could get in touch with the manufacturers of
nicotine patches and ask them whether they are looking for smokers to trial new anti-addiction products.
You may well get free smoking patches and it is the only way I know where you might get paid for wearing them
too.
